Power View Training Module Launched

The Power View module of our brand-new SQL Server 2012 BI online training has just been published. It is a 75-minute video, containing 17 hi-def demos, many explanations, and a good few slides. You will learn about all the Power View fundamentals, including: sourcing data from a BI Semantic Model, measures, visualisations, such as bubble charts, and exporting reports to PowerPoint.

It is now generally available for purchase, and you can download its various trial editions, and add-ons, such as the new, yet still free, PowerPivot for Excel. Now is a great time to learn what is new about it from the perspective of Business Intelligence, as that is a key strength of this new product.

xVelocity, Vertipaq, and BI Semantic Model

Microsoft have announced that the name Vertipaq is changing to xVelocity In-Memory Analytics Engine at the same time as SQL Server 2012 launched, on 7 March 2012. Vertipaq was the name of the in-memory tabular compression and analysis engine of PowerPivot, introduced a few years ago, with SQL Server 2008 R2. Let us help you get some clarity with regards to those name changes.
