Advanced Analytics and Data Science 2016 Roadshow

I am presenting a series of 1-day seminars, and shorter keynotes, focused on advanced analytics and data science across the world. It is the 9th year that Microsoft have asked me to deliver an analytics/BI roadshow, and the 12th in total—I am very grateful for this opportunity. If you are in any of the following locations, I look forward to seeing you in person. You can find my roadshow PPTs here. Please also consider attending one of my classroom 4-day data science courses

  • Gothenburg and Stockholm, Sweden, 8 & 10 March 2016
  • Vienna, Austria, 17 March 2016
  • Taipei, Taiwan, 24 March 2016 (keynote)
  • Johannesburg, South Africa, 4–6 April 2016
  • Warsaw, Poland, 12 April 2016 (keynote)
  • Amsterdam, Netherlands, 14 April 2016 (keynote)
  • Frankfurt, Germany, 19 April 2016 (keynote)
  • Zurich, Switzerland, 20 April 2016
  • Copenhagen, Denmark, 2–3 May 2016 (at SQL Nexus)
  • Atlanta, Georgia, United States, 26–27 September 2016 (at Ignite)

As in the previous years, please contact the local Microsoft country office for details of venues and registration. All dates subject to last-minute changes, and I may add one or two additional events, in which case I will update this page.

The topics, which I am discussing in detail in four presentations, and which I summarise in the keynotes, focus on:

  • Business opportunity of advanced analytics and the new landscape of data, stressing the advantages and issues of the most recent breed of tools and database technologies, including NoSQL/NewSQL,
  • Process of data science in practice, especially the concept of Data Driven Decisions, and the method of hypothesis-based experimentation for solving real-world business problems,
  • On-prem analytics with Microsoft R Server, SQL Server 2016 R Services, and SSAS Data Mining,
  • Cloud-based Cortana Analytics Suite, especially Azure Machine Learning and the variety of data storage approaches, including a discussion of pros and cons of relational vs NoSQL.

I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to present in 48 countries—soon 49—meeting 3,000–8,000 analysts and BI professionals every year. So far I have presented to a total of some 91,000 people, and each time I have learned something new, not just about presenting, but more importantly about the needs and interest of our community. I look forward to seeing you, if possible, this year.

[Last updated 21 March 2016: Spain date unfortunately postponed until later in 2016 or early 2017.]
