We have just published our newest, 47-minute video tutorial: DAX: The CALCULATE Function. Marco Russo, respected author and mentor from sqlbi.com, explains when to use this function and introduces its syntax, before showing you in-depth examples of how to manipulate filters at column granularity level, and how to transform a row context into a filter context, in 5 extensive, high-resolution demos. Learning these concepts will enable you to write advanced, real-world calculations in Data Analysis Expressions, such as percentage of a total, that work properly with other filters, slicers, and so on. This tutorial is part of our video series on DAX, and you should study it, ideally, after you have learned about DAX Evaluation Context.

Chris Webb, one of the world’s most read authorities on SQL Server Analysis Services and Multidimensional Expressions, has kindly agreed to record a series of training videos focussed on MDX for us. We have a new tutorial, already available online, introducing the most fundamental, and most important, three concepts: unique names, tuples, and sets. More modules will be published over the course of the next few months.
